Q-Patrol of Seattle – Contact
Seattle Communists initiated the recent revival of Q-Patrol as a way of building up community power in Capitol Hill, protecting the people in ways the police won’t, and combatting the violence and displacement that are key parts of gentrification. Follow their Facebook page for information about training, education, and organizing meetings – QPS is an autonomous organization controlled by its members, and Seattle Communists maintains a policy of not interfering in its democratic process. From Q-Patrol’s self-description:
“We are members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community. We are working towards establishing a community patrol for Capitol Hill and the CD.
If your group or organization would like Q-Patrol to help with security at a community event or protest you are arranging, please send us a message with the details as we would probably be happy to! But please bear in mind that it can take time to put together a team, so we ask that you give us at least 2 weeks notice beforehand. If the need is urgent and 2 weeks is not possible, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.”
Serve the People
Serve the People is a free, co-operative grocery program that delivers food to people’s houses every other week. Because it is a community power project, not a charity, all decisions are made by the recipients and volunteers at meetings after each delivery run. To sign up for deliveries, volunteer, or help canvass, fill out the survey here:
While it is a program of Seattle Communists, members and non-members alike are invited to be part of Serve the People and exercise an equal say in its decisions. If you can’t be involved in person, donate here to take some of the financial burden off of the participants:
We offer classes, discussions, and study groups on revolutionary theory, history, and current events. Contact us for details.
